Invisalign

Dr. Jai is an Invisalign-certified dentist treating patients throughout the Roswell area. Invisalign is an excellent way to straighten your teeth, and adults of all ages often prefer it over traditional metal braces. Teenagers and adults alike love it because it straightens teeth without anyone noticing you're correcting your smile in the first place.

How Invisalign Works

An impression of your teeth is taken so a full series of aligners can be created in a dental lab, made from a thermoplastic material that's strong, flexible, comfortable for extended wear, and virtually invisible.

Benefits of Invisalign

The aligners are clear, so no one can tell you're straightening your teeth. They're worn about 22 hours a day, so you can take them out to eat, go on a date, or give a presentation at work. You brush and floss normally with no special tools required. There's less risk of staining than with metal braces, which are harder to keep clean. The aligners move teeth gradually and only a few at a time, which tends to be more comfortable than traditional braces. Each aligner is only worn for a couple of weeks, and they're simple to maintain.

Caring for Your Aligners

Remove your aligner daily, rinse it with warm water, and brush it gently with a soft toothbrush.

Attachments

Some patients need small attachments or ridges bonded to specific teeth so the aligner grips properly and moves that tooth exactly as planned. An attachment is a small, enamel-colored composite bump; a ridge works the same way but as an indent instead. This is common for more complex cases needing precise movement on particular teeth.

Checkups

Because the full aligner series is made at the very start of treatment, checkups are just there to confirm your teeth are moving as expected — not to make adjustments. That's a real difference from traditional braces, where wires need regular tightening and any delay in scheduling can extend how long they're worn. Fewer, less frequent visits is one of the most practical advantages for a busy schedule.

Treatment Time

Most patients complete treatment in around twelve months, though the exact timeline depends on your specific case — Dr. Jai can tell you what to expect after an evaluation. Overall treatment time is often shorter than metal braces, in part because there's no need to schedule an appointment just to keep things moving — you simply move to the next aligner in the series.

How It Impacts Daily Life

Since the aligners are clear, they won't affect your appearance, and since they're only worn 22 hours a day, they won't interfere with eating — no worrying about food stuck in a wire or a bracket getting damaged, and no missing meals for treatment.

A brief adjustment period for speech is normal in the first couple of days, sometimes including a slight lisp, which resolves as you get used to wearing the aligners — standard with any orthodontic device, and most people speak normally again within a couple of days.
